The MA Chidambaram stadium in Chennai will host an exciting contest on Thursday when table toppers Chennai Super Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad go head to head in what promises to be a stirring battle. Chennai have continued to soar up the standings with three consecutive wins courtesy a scintillating all round display. The Sunrisers on the other hand have largely remained untested against the big guns, having played most of their games against mediocre sides and this will be a great opportunity for them to prove that their earlier triumphs were no fluke.

Sunrisers Hyderabad
Coming off a rare five day long break, the Sunrisers Hyderabad would be itching to get back on the
field and have a go at their southern neighbors. Their batting hasn't been one of their strengths with
the middle order making strenuous efforts to build partnerships. They do however boast of some
match winners in Cameron White and Thisara Perera, who can deliver when the team needs it the
most. Not only can they anchor the innings very well in case of a collapse, but they can also clear the
ropes easily. However due to the ongoing political turmoil, Perera would not be allowed to participate
in Chennai and his absence will be sorely missed. The domestic duo of Hanuma Vihari and Biplab
Samantray have made sparkling appearances in the past games and in the absence of any reliable
opener, the Sunrisers will look to them to deliver. With Quinton de Kock fairing poorly in the two
chances that he has got and no Sangakkara in picture, the Queensland opener Chris Lynn is expected
to be utilized. The biggest positive for the visitors will be the possible return of Shikhar Dhawan who
has been tipped to join the ranks by coach Tom Moody. The fastest centurion on test debut would be
eager to carry forward his splendid show

Chennai Super Kings
If MS Dhoni doesn’t see his team through, there are other who can finish it for Chennai. Sometimes it
is ‘Sir’ Ravindra Jadeja, but on Monday against a lethal Rajasthan Royals, it was the turn of the
Caribbean King Dwayne Bravo. Bravo scored 11 off the last over, including a six over cover to steal
another victory for the Super Kings. However, the match belonged to Mike Hussey who stole the show
once again with an industrious display of strokes, tearing the Rajasthan bowlers apart on his way to a
51 ball knock worth 88 runs. The tireless Aussie has been in tremendous form this season and can
adjust the pace of his innings to suit almost any target. Suresh Raina too got into the act as he
registered his first fifty of IPL 6, forging a quick fire 90 run stand with Hussey that set the tone for a
remarkable run chase. The only chink in the Chennai armour is Murali Vijay, who hasn’t quite been
able to carry his superb test form against Australia into the T20 circuit.
Albie Morkel and domestic star Mohit Sharma are the ones who have usually been handed the new
ball by Dhoni. They have not been as fiery as Steyn and Ishant but have done their part in bits. The
Chennai Super Kings might lack a fierce frontline spearhead but have productive middle over
resources in the form of Chris Morris and Dwayne Bravo who are capable of getting important
breakthroughs. To add to it, the miserly economy of spin twins Ashwin and Jadeja makes the potency
of Chennai even more evident. The 6 feet 7 inches tall, loose limbed Jason Holder from West Indies
made an imperceptible debut in the last game and he might make way for the experienced Albie
Morkel to deepen their batting.
